２０世紀を代表する画家の一人と言われ、今でも根強い人気とファンを持つ。作風には、70年代に確立したヨーロッパ上流階級の退廃的な雰囲気、潜在的な暴力、エロティシズムを感じさせるスタイルが凝縮されていて、作品を発表するたびに驚異的な人気を誇っていたようです。ホックニーは「自分の作品はホログラフィ的でありフラクタル的である」と考え、その思想はＭ・Ｃエッシャーや他の芸術家達と似通ったところがあることも伺えます。また写真にも精通し、フォトコラージュアートの先駆者とも言われています。こちらのポスターはリトグラフになります。リトグラフ(lithograph)：平板印刷の一種で油(インク)の撥水性を利用した印刷方法です。オフセット印刷の原型となる印刷方法で、元々は石(＝リト)を原版に使用した為リトグラフと呼ばれますが、現在はより扱いに適したアルミ版が多く使われています。細かい筆致やインクの飛沫など原版の表現を損なう事無く印刷できるのが特徴です。
